This figure is derived from the number of trips people saved by not driving alone.

This figure is derived from the number of trips saved when a person uses alternative transportation in place of a car.

Pounds of Carbon Dioxide per mile is calculated by using the formula:
0.98 * x
where x = number of miles

Based on AAA's 'Your Driving Costs' study in 2011. The cost per mile is based on driving a medium sized sedan approximately 15,000 miles per year. The cost includes all costs of driving (ownership, maintenance, gas, etc.).

Savings in dollars is calculated by using the formula:
0.573 * x
where x = number of miles
